How to choose the right product for protection, read labels and restore skin after sun exposure.
SPF is primarily a temporary protection factor. The average person can be in the sun without protection for about 10 minutes. But if you apply a product with SPF 10, the time of safe stay will increase to 100 minutes, if SPF 30 - 300 minutes, etc.
However, everything is individual. The paler your skin tone, the higher the SPF factor you need. Under direct sunlight, fair skin starts to turn red after only 5 minutes, while darker skin takes about 15 minutes. Keep this in mind when choosing your product.
HOW TO SELECT?
When choosing UV protection, you need to consider the level of sun activity in your region. If you're choosing a product for the middle zone (walks in the city, picnics and sports) and you have pale skin, choose SPF 30; if you have dark skin, choose SPF 15. If you go on vacation at sea, it is advisable to choose SPF 50 as the maximum protection for both dark- and light-skinned people because of the high sun exposure.
SPF 50 is the most suitable protection level for beach vacations and hot climates. Even though they are now starting to release products with SPF 70 and even SPF 100, SPF 50 works just as well. An SPF 50 product blocks 98% of UVB rays, so a higher SPF level can't protect your skin much more.
WHAT IF A BURN?
If you can feel your skin tingling, it's probably already sunburned. It may not be bad yet, but if you don't take action, it can get worse. Try to cover the sunburned areas as soon as possible, get out of the street, take a cool shower, and apply a cooling or soothing sunscreen.
If you do get sunburned and your skin is red and sore, you should now stay out of the sun for a while without a cotton cape. Your skin needs help to recover. Use special remedies after tanning or pharmacy ointments with panthenol.
IMPORTANT!
The sun is most active between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. During this time, you must leave the beach.
It is possible to get burnt without sun-protection means under a tent, and even in cloudy weather.
Special means "after sunburn" should be used as soon as you return from the beach, and not when you have already burned.
Apply the sunscreen 20 minutes before you go to the beach, so that it has time to soak in. If you want, you can do your makeup over the sunscreen.
